Lets talk straight.....I am a bengali and I admire Saurav Ganguly a.k.a "Dada"!
Stop! before you start looking at my name and deduce that as being a bengali myself, I admire 'Dada"...No, I do not admire 'Dada" because he is bengali, I admire 'Dada" because he has prooved to be such a good example for the word "Tenacity" - (Noun) - meaning persistent determination.
Off course there are other examples and every one has his/her favourites.
Tenacity, the character so which is so much missing in our generation.
Today, when I (true to many others) fail in a admission test to a good college, I say that I do not have time to sit down again and take the test again next time.
Today, when I ( true to many others) fail to get a good salary upgrade , I wish to quit the company instead of staying back in it and fighting out for a better salary upgrade.
Today, when we hear about riots in other parts of the state, we easily start blaming the other religion instead of giving a determined effort in trying to mend the relation between the two.
Today, when we face failures in life we start blaming life saying that 'life isn't fair to me', instead of giving a determined fight back...
Just give this a thought, how would a person feel when he is ousted from a national team which he was leading, in front of the whole world media and when the whole country looked at him as a failure......he could have easily said that I give up and hang his shoes for a life time...
But he did not, he fought back...with a persistent determination -i.e. tenacity....
So if he can, can't we? after all we are all humans.....

Dravid Vs Ponting
Lets go! Scrutinize two different personalities and the environment they live in: Ricky Ponting and Rahul Dravid.
Rahul Dravid: Captain of the Indian cricket team
Success Rate as Captain(ODI): 53%
Personal batting avg: 41.5 (approx)
Indian Team batting average(2006 ODI): 30
Indian Team bowling average(2006 ODI):29
Ricky ponting: Captain of the Australian cricket team
Success Rate as Captain(ODI): 81%
Personal batting avg: 42 (approx)
Australian Team batting average(2006 ODI): 36.5

Points that are worth noticing from the above stats are:
1. Both Captains have similar batting averages
2. Both countries have appreciable batting and bowling averages
3. BUT, Australia has a better success rate.
Now the question is WHY? the million dollar question which every Indian asks, every member in the BCCI is banging there heads on......
You may agree or disagree to the next couple of lines that has been put down as an answer to the above question (No, I do not want the Million dollarthough!) based on my personal observations.
August 2006: My job brought me to Melbourne, Australia. Since past 4 months I observed the people here and have come to conclusion that...unlike us, the Indians, they are very enthusiastic, Sporting, Professional and Sporting people.
They not only like Cricket, they also like Footie, rowing, football, rugby, swimming and lot many other sports....no surprise Melbourne is presently ranked as world's No. 1 sporting City, surpassing Sydney!!
So, people back here enjoy the game...be it on the ground or off the ground.
Aussies back here support their team but do not abuse it when they loose!
Aussies support every game, not expecting to win....but expecting to get the best enjoyment from it...
Hence winning or loosing doesnot matter to them...because they aren't looking for that....as a result they play with less pressure, more confidence and in a more winning fashion...
Hope.....this answers it all.....
Lets not play to win, lets play to enjoy
Lets not support a winning Indian Team and abuse a loosing one, Lets cheer them up for every match what ever the result is.......
Lets enjoy the game....!!!

Can we change?
I believe that No one on this planet would love to hurt anyone...But sometimes we do!Under the influence of Situations and Prejudice - the two great evils.
I have always envied the people who would remain calm and would say "yes" to what ever you ask from them....
Lets figure out this together.
When was the last time, you said "NO" to someone,when you could have said "yes"? (offcourse you won't say someone yes, if he/she tells you to kill someone!)
When was the last time, you made someone sad?
When was the last time, you had become the reason of someones smile?
when was the last time, you went to sleep with a smile on your mind?
If we ask ourselves these questions on a regular basis, I believe the answer would come from within us.(offcourse that doesnot hold true for politicians!)
Hope we would change when we meet next time!

Knowing the true colours.
7th, October, 2006- Melbourne,Aus.
Well, its true that you know a person only when you spend a lot of time with them or when that person earns a lot of money.
I experienced it in Melbourne, when I travelled down here to address my job needs.
People whom I have respected a lot (off-course not out of age) for their attitude towards work and life, have turned out to be hypocrites here!
People who had always returned a smile in India would turn their face away and say do not disturb me now!
And I strongly believe that this is the case with many of us,isn't it?
well, then the question is what exactly has happened? Have we changed as well?
To be true... I believe that one must not care if the other person behaves rudely or has changed a lot, just enjoy your life and see to it that you do not hurt others.
Because there are always other things and other people which/who are more important than these things.
Love life, Live Life ....
Well, its true that you know a person only when you spend a lot of time with them or when that person earns a lot of money.

BACK to PAST!
Well This is no science fiction or Time machine truth...
I went to Raurkela after 6 years...long time to visit a place where you have finished up your school, made life time friends and last but not the least a place where you have so many memories attached with....
It was really nostalgic two days in Raurkela; I visited my school M.G.M and it still remais the same except for the school buses painted yellow and a basket ball ground at the sports arena.
Though the summer vacation was on yet i could see myself running through the corridors...it's so recent!
I went to the place where we lived, Sector 18...the football ground is still present there but, yes a new breed playing there game now....I met a few of our neighbours and they were really surprised to see me after such a long time....
As i boarded the train to return back to Kolkata i asked to myself that have am I growing OLD...is time passing by....but then its true miles to go before I sleep.....

RESERVATION: A leap backwards!
Caution Notice: I have written this blog keeping in mind that WE Indians still have a voice and we do not need politicians to meddle with us. We are bold enough to stand up to anything that is wrong...So anyone who is reading this blog with a divided mind may please absatian from the same; because you need to be on either side of the road, being in between would do nothing but crush you.
Well, I as a citizen of Free democratic India believe, that everyone of us should get equal rights in every field.
The moment I think this, I do not abstain the SCs, STs and OBCs from it.
Today, I accept that at one point of time our bretherens were subjected to atrocities based on caste system; at that point of time our ancestors had this in there heart and mind...
But, Today....the scenario is differnet..
Education has chaged it a lot...
I donot believe in cast system anymore..let me naarate a story to you...
Manoj was a close friend of mine...
We had shared tiffins, Good and bad times...but all that changed when he got into one of the premier engineering colleges of INDIA, even when he had secured a rank much lower than me; reason being he was in the reserved category......
Well I was sad at that point of time, but I understood that knowledge cannot be reserved....
when I saw him not faring well in his college exams....Sad but true...
And this is how a goverment; which is by the people, for the people and of the people...changes the relationships betwen its citizens...and nurtures ill will...I never saw manoj as a backward class member but Government made me to see it....should I say my eyes opened to the stark reality
I believe reservations should be made for the weaker sections of the society not based on knowledge but rather, on will to learn...and that can be gauged through competitive exams.
By reservation I believe you make that class more weaker and vulnerable....since my friend Manoj is still searching for a job...!

What's NEW and HAPPY about 2006?
Well we are into another Year...YEAR 2006... Every corner of the world celebrated it... from TimeSquare to Sydney...People frolicking around, partying....wishing each other a "Happy New Year"....But alas! I think (others might not) whats New and Happy about this Year?
At this point of time it would seem a bit pessimistic...but hold on... Lets See the reality...
Time: 31st night, 2005.
France- the Fashion Capital of the world - was burning; Reason - Racial & Ethinic differences. Bihar, India .... 6 people Burnt alive; Reason - Racial and Cast differences.
Astreet in any place in the world: a poor kid asking for 2 bucks for his dinner...
A home any where in the world: A fight between Father-Son, Mother- daughter, brothers, sisters and couples! and many more such incidents if we look around....
it might not have happened with you....but you are vulnerable too... and still we go on to celebrate wishing every one a "Happy New year".....
But wait...I am not that pessimistic... We still have Good positive things happening around... and the best thing thats happening is that everyone, from every corner of the world gets his/her Faith Renewed...Faith that every thing would turn right one day, Faith that no one would go to sleep hungry any more, Faith that no more killings...Faith that a day when every thing would turn Golden, Faith that a day when we wish every one "Enjoy Life" rather than wishing "Happy New year"......
But till then theres lot many years to come.....and here, I am sitting in a dangy Internet cafe....Wishing the whole world "A Happy New Year"......Do Enjoy Life..!

Hi all Engineers of India!
Sorry for getting to ethinic and biased.....and greeting only "Engineers of India"...well that is what this book talks about -- " Five point Someone - by Chetan Bhagat"....
Or should I have said " Hi all IIT engineers of India, Specially from IIT Delhi !"....
Well that's for you people to decide after reading the book....
Well Chetan if you are reading my blog (others can take it as tips for their future endeavours in writing), then here are certain Feedback (offcourse that's totally personal):
1. Chetan you have used a very lucid language that really helps in bringing out the picture...like you have written it in a splendid manner.
2. You have ridiculed IIT in a great way, though I feel at this point of time, you miss it a lot...
3. You became too Dark about "Venkat", "Prof. Cherian" and certain other characters...but believe me if they were not what the were...then Hari's, Ryan's and Alok's life would have gone for a toss....(Any way do not misinterpret me as Venkat type or Prof. Cherian type, I am more of Hari type!)
4. Parents should have been given more respect (Both Aloks Parents and Haris Father....you might have hurt a lot sentiments!)
5. Last but not the least, you are ending was perfect to come up with "Five point Someone Part II" !
Carry on the good work Chetan...

Is it wrong to be Ambitous?
Todays Generation is ambitous!
Yah they are, they dream of earning more in less time, and in that hunt they either burn out, Get frustrated or become a Success!!
But Success as we know doesnot come easy and often we loose out in the race….
But should that stop us in dreaming, should we blame it on the size of our dreams?
NO! I believe we must dream, however big the dream may be, we must dream….What matters most is the way we achieve or dream, the path we take on to achieve our dream…..If we loose out, we must know that we did not choose the right path, we must start again…
So I would Suggest that a person who dreams a 7 digit monthly salary the following:
- Choose the right path i.e. means
- Let not your dream become a thorn or an obstacle for any one else, especially your family.
- Have the tenacity to fight back in case of failure – be strong, be determined.
Last but not the Least I want people to Go for what they have in their mind with full heart....because Life Is one time, irreversible journey...Go!

Dil mange more..!!
We humans have been crying from the day one when we come out from the comfort of our Mothers womb. We start whining that the world always goes the opposite way We want it to go.
We seem to fight with marks and percentages when We are in school, We seem to fight with Jobs and better jobs when we grow up...then we fight for our soulmates and once we get them we fight with our soulmates!
As we grow to become more matured we start crying more just like our politicians who are so reluctant to leave their Strongholds; And we cry hoarse on Laloo...afterall he is behaving the natural way.
Suddenly one day the doctor says that you must take care of your heart or else you would loose this race called life...and you dive into depth of frustration and find out ways to survive saying that "why is GOD doing this to me, I just started enjoying life..."
ALAS! my friends GOD doesnot answer back...but i feel if he/she were to answer back then he would surely have said that "Child you just wasted your life, wish I could have told you earlier...."
See...GOD too is complaining...

illusionary World of Software...
Think of this situation---
Final Year in College, Thinking of joining big names like Infosys, TCS , Wipro and others, wondering how would you look wearing that kool attitude of a software engineer; coding all day long infact goin for night outs....
STOP! stop dreaming friends lifes not so easy back here.....
well you never are kool in this field unless you have done enough documentation, have spent enough of time on bench doing absolutely nothing, have done only copy paste kind off code changes and last but not the least have atleasted switched two or more jobs...
Because by then you have spent 3-4 years of your period and you would be leading group of people, infact dreamers just like you are now...
Believe me its a hard task to manage dreamers, because they get frustrated easily since nothing is according to their dreams in this world.....
So wake up my friend....nothing comes for free......except frustration!!
after all Gold too has to pass the test of fire.....

News about me...
Hey! I got a prize...not the first Prize but second....
Any way wasn't expecting that one...it was totally an impromptu Session.
Went on to attend a debate held in Infosys on 5th of august, just as an audience.
But voluntered for a debating on a topic, since participants were missing.
And to my surprise was selected for the final round.
Topic for the first round was " Should Camera Phones be banned?" - I spoke against it.
Topic for the final round was " Endorsements for Indian Cricketers --Good or bad" i spoke Against.
Any way we could not make it in the final round , well you can see me and my partner recieving the second prize.
End of the day -- a good learning experience!!

Till now we thought it as Shanghai of India and now it has changed to venice!
How powerful and punishing is nature and how weak are We...
We the people of India...
We do have a habbit of talking big when we haven't done our homework correctly...
We leave in a democratic country, but are unaware of its rights...
We know Rome was not built in one day, but we orselves try to do the same...
Its high time we learn something or one day we mightnot even get a chance to stand again....

Help Yourself To Fight.....
Yesterday was really a great day…it was my Birthday…
I had a nice time in office as well as home…
But alas! Today I had quarrel at home in morning, a problem in the office with my boss….feeling a bit feverish with a running nose….and all of a sudden it seems like the whole world is running after me…
Hey how many have gone through such emotions before….
Honest enough …I have been through such emotions a lot many times…
I didn’t find anyone for help…I had to go through these feelings alone…
I tried to share them but …failed….after all everything is not accepted to be shared with everyone…
So there’s the catch…we are sent to live on earth on all our own….
Such situations comes in our way as an opportunity from which we gather experience, knowledge…at such times we come to know what’s the strength we have…after all a ship looks nice in harbor but that’s not what it is meant for…isn’t it.
So from the next time when ever you are Angry, frustrated, disgusted …
Whenever you feel like every part of your Body is giving away…
Remember one thing….you are alone in this world…you have to know your strength, you are the only person who can help yourself…..So Rise Awake till you reach your Goal….Come what may…..

Are We INDIANS Really Hypocrites?
Well a great article published on Rediff where in we Indians were criticised of been Hypocrites..Good to read, But a very tough one to accept….
I believe world is a place where My wife, My Parents, My superiors and the Society has every right to say me “ Do it this way….”Why not should they say so….Why not?
After all I am an integral part of it…..Whether to listen to them depends on ME.
So you see the onus is on an individual, to know whether he is a hypocrite or the Society or so to say a country …..After all when we point one finger to a certain fault remaining four fingers points US…

Michael Jackson-- A trendsetter.....Well I might touch that tender chord of Discussion where in I might be rebuked....
Sorry Folks...but I am desparate.....
I had been idolizing Michael Jackson from my Early school days,We did not have a Television at our home then....I had a glimpse of him only through magazines (Though after arrival of TV it made no difference since we only had Doordarshan)...
so I had to wait long to See him performing...it was only when I started my Engineering....I was so inspired by him that I started performing on his numbers, I started copying him-- his moves, his style, his dressings...infact people in college started calling me "Michael Jackson"....it really felt great....
But alas!.....As I completed my engineering both me and the Legend had hit hard times....Me busy with my Early difficult days at my first job and HE fighting out his First Legal Trial .....Today HE has been evicted of all charges but HE is ageing....I wonder will HE be able to perform again So magnificently, So smoothly...Will he be able to Inspire another person just like I was,....
Alas! everygood thing surely comes to an end....
